Dale the Door Dasher and Large Nursery Remodeling Photos

We're always comparing Dale to Spencer or Jack, for his Door Dasher abilities. But Jack was absolutely impervious to water and Spencer seemed to enjoy the game. Dale has decided that he hates the squirt bottle, he stops in his tracks, bucks like a bronco, gives us a look that could kill, then backs away from the door. It is a recent development, we've tried the water treatment before. So there's hope yet, that Dale the Door Dasher will become Dale the Docile.

And he's definitely docile tonight, poor baby. While he's not quite singing soprano, he's certainly a bit lighter in voice and anatomy. He is now officially an It. He was neutered today and received his Avid microchip while he was out for the surgery. He's sleeping in a small crate beside my desk; he wakens occasionally, looks over to make sure I'm still here, then puts his head down and is sound asleep again. He's precious and it's hard to not take him out and cuddle him and tell him it will be okay.

But we know from experience, that once he's awake and motivated, all I'll get done is try and keep him quiet til he's recovered enough to join Ellie and Tessa in the large nursery, then the race will be on again. Keeping an early generation Savannah quiet is impossible.



We've finished the large nursery remodel and Dale got to enjoy exploring for a little while before his surgery. We might rename him Warren Beatty since he is SO vain. He found the mirror within the first three minutes. He's vain, but he's Dale... he's beautiful and knows it!



And now we've started remodeling our smaller nursery, also known as our Library. It's a room much loved by our Savannahs for those wonderful old book smells! Savannahs are extremely sensitive to scents, of any type. Our books are safely behind glass and I prefer eBooks because I can lay on the floor with kittens and happily read without losing pages (and chapters!) to little teeth.
